A 49-YEAR-OLD prostitute in Victoria Falls has filed rape charges against her 24-year-old client after he allegedly failed to pay for services last year.
Loster Mathe, of Monde just outside the resort town, alleged that Stephen Moyo of Chinotimba Township broke into her hut at night and raped her.
She told police that she was fast asleep after a beer drink and when she woke up, she found a used condom besides her bed while Moyo was trying to wear another one to rape her for the second time.
“He followed me home and broke my door while I was sleeping. When I woke up he was trying to wear a condom and there was a used condom on the floor,” said Mathe (Not in picture).
She said Moyo fled the house and left a pair of trousers.
Moyo, who appeared before magistrate Sharon Rosemani charged with rape, however claims he hired the hooker but failed to pay for her services. Mathe then seized his pair of trousers as payment.
Speaking through his lawyer Givemore Muvhiringi of Dube and Company as he applied for bail, Moyo said he was surprised that the woman had pressed charges.
The State would seek to prove that sometime in March last year, Moyo left a bar and followed the complainant to her place of residence where he allegedly had sex with her without her consent.
“The accused followed the complainant and forcibly opened the door. He found her asleep and had sex with her with a condom. The complainant later woke up and found the accused trying to wear another condom while a used one was on the floor,” said Listen Nare, the prosecutor.
The defence lawyer said the crime was questionable as he quizzed why the complainant had not reported the matter since last year in March when she was allegedly raped.
She reported to the police last month. Moyo was arrested on September 14.
The magistrate granted him $200 bail and ordered him not to interfere with witnesses and to report once a month at Victoria Falls Police Station.
The accused returns to court on October 24
